We wouldn't recommend it. Not to say we haven't had customers do it - they have - but there's a difference between a costume you can wear around a convention and bonk into a doorway, and one that can take a BB while diving onto rocks. That being said, we've had the question enough that we've looked into the possibility of making Stunt Suits that necessarily lack some finishing detail but are much hardier. The main issue is that resin parts, tough as we make them, are prone to shatter when breaking and wouldn't just get dented/holes poked in like PLA+.
We've been able to build up stock as we run the business full-time, and most of our items can be out the door in a couple days after an order goes through when default options are selected.
Many of our costumes allow custom details that will need a bit of back-and-forth with you to make sure you're happy, so that process adds some delay when those custom parts then need to be made and finished before completing an item.
We have allowed out-of-stock orders on the site now that we have the process of making our props and costumes locked down. Many of our items have in-progress batches slowly being worked on in the background, so we simply prioritize them for completion when an order comes in.
We've hit the point where even making four full marine suits at once took less than two months, so you shouldn't have to hold your breath for long after placing an order.
We pride ourselves with keeping customers up-to-date with progress pictures and reports, so nobody has to worry about their money floating around without results.
Almost certainly. Listing every single item separately on the website would be a cluttered nightmare, but if you just ask we're happy to price out individual pieces in various levels of finish for no extra cost. We've sold basically-raw armor kits, unpainted helmets, and are happy to give a good starting foundation to anyone who wants a bit of their own sweat and blood in their costume.
